Woman (20) shot in face outside local pub

A 20-year-old woman was allegedly shot by her ex-boyfriend outside Corner Pocket Pub in Oberholzer at around 03:30 on 1 October. According to the victim, she and a friend drove to the KFC in her exboyfriend’s car without his knowledge. When she returned, she found him waiting outside and an argument ensued. During the heated fight, the furious suspect took out a gun from the boot and fired a shot in her direction. The bullet hit the victim in the face,
entering through the chin and exiting through the jaw. As she was being transported to the hospital, the suspect drove to Khutsong Police Station and reported that his firearm had been stolen. He was later arrested when it was
discovered that he had lied to the police. The victim’s family saw him moving freely around Carletonville and informed the police of what had actually happened. According to the investigating officer, Sergeant Jacques Nagel, no case had been opened as yet. Nagel arrested the suspect on 4 October. The suspect was in possession of the very same 9 mm firearm that he had reported missing. He has been charged with attempted murder and the discharging of a firearm in a municipal area.
