Well-known biker killed in collision with truck

A well-known biker in the area was killed on Tuesday morning when his motorcycle crashed into a truck on the
R500 outside Fochville. ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 07:00 to find the body of the biker lying two
metres away and the motorbike in pieces in the middle of the road. Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had already succumbed to his numerous injuries and nothing could be done for him. He showed no signs of life
and was declared dead on the scene. The driver of the truck was assessed and found to have escaped injury. Although local authorities were on the scene for further investigations, it is not yet clear what led to the accident. The deceased was later identified as the late Mr Mike Calitz. As far as could be determined Calitz, a member of the Deo Volente Bike Club in Fochville, lived in Parys but regularly passed through the area as he worked in Krugersdorp. He leaves
behind a wife and daughter. The incident has shocked and saddened members of the local biking community and messages of condolence have been pouring in on social media.
