Various members of the Carletonville Swimming Club excelled at another seeding event for the Midmar Mile during
the past weekend.
Several club members showed their fitness at the Cradle Moon Swim Challenge 1 on 5 November. The event took
place at Cradle Moon Lakeside Game Lodge at Muldersdrift, formerly known as Heia Safari. The distances on offer at
this event included 3km, 1km and 400m swims.
“It was a hot but awesome day. Swimmers were excited and gave their total best,” says one of the Carletonville
swimmers, Hajiera Mabanga, after the event.
Two of the Carletonville swimmers, Aaliyah Mabanga and Minke Rheeder, even upgraded with this event by doing
the further distance.
“We are so proud of them for the courage and determination,” one of the club’s stalwarts, Annalisa Freese, told
the Herald.
Several 1km swimmers who obtained excellent times, were Caitlin Doran with 17:43min, Divan Grove with  18:07min, Julian Rheeder with a time of 18:18min, Bianca Jeneke with 19:40min, Kealeboga Khoza with a time of 20:17min, Rameez Mabanga with 24:37min, Aaliya Mabanga with 30:44min and Minke Rheeder with a time of 30:44min.
The 400m fun swim was completed by Rory Frazer with time of 11:47. It was also his first dam swim, and he did it
with a lot of courage accompanied by Gerrie Grove (Coach) in a time of 12:34min.
“It was really once again a well-organised event. The next qualification event will take place on 26 November,” says
Freese.
