Stiff prison sentence for robber

A successful conviction took place at the Oberholzer Regional Court on 10 October. The conviction was made after an
incident of robbery with a weapon other than firearm in December 2016. The incident took place at house 1944 Phokoje Street in Khutsong South. The complainant alleges that he was waiting for two of his colleagues who were off loading bread at a tuck shop. When they climbed back in the vehicle two unknown men suddenly came and asked for a lift and the driver tried to drive off without answering them. The driver was then hit on the right cheek with a brick and he stopped the vehicle, opened the door and fell out. When he woke up he saw the two suspects with knives. One of them went in the truck and took cash to the amount of R500 as well as a cellular phone. One suspect was arrested and the other is still at large. The suspect who was arrested, 28 year old Bongani Phindane, was
sentenced to 12 years. The successful conviction was due to the excellent work of the Investigation Officer Warrant Officer George Mankwe according to Khutsong SAPS Communication Officer Captain Eddie Boboko.gladiator
