‘Please conserve water,’ says Merafong

The Merafong City Local Municipality is asking the residents of the area to look after their water use. Water use is currently a major topic in the country as the Western Cape is facing its worst drought in decades. Experts are warning that Gauteng might also experience severe water problems within the next decade. On Tuesday, the municipality also appealed to members of the community to do their part. ‘Consumers are urged to use water sparingly especially since the weather is currently very hot and there has been an increase in demand,’ a municipal spokesperson said. ‘Swimming pools should be covered when not in use in order to reduce the water evaporation. Communities are also requested not to water their garden during the day, but rather in the early evening.’ ‘The municipality appreciates the fact that our consumers are reporting leakage and we undertake to fix all leaks as soon as possible,’ the spokesperson concluded.gladiator
