From small beginnings…

It started off as just two friends taking up traditional dancing together but it has taken off unexpectedly and the young people are loving it. Mohau Moletsane, a traditional dancer, established the Ubuhle Be Sintu dance group with his friend, Mongezi in 2016. After a month of rehearsing together, however, the youngsters around them became interested and started asking for dancing lessons. Many of the aspiring dancers are learners from Tswasungu High School and, when the school arranged a dance competition, the group won five rounds. Since then, they have gone on to perform at other schools and entertained Badirile High School on Heritage Day. They have also competed at the Alexander Dance Competition, the Khutsong Community Hall and at The Soweto Hotel. As young people continue to sign up and rehearse with the group, Moletsane has big plans for them. He aims to take the group as far as overseas and aims to use art to change the Khutsong Township.
