Husband arrested for killing wife’s alleged attacker

A man from Fochville has been arrested after he killed a man whom he believed had been involved in an alleged attack on his wife.
The wife had apparently visited the casino at around 22:00 on 28 April.
She phoned her husband but started walking home when he did not arrive immediately.
While on her way home, three men allegedly attacked and raped her. She immediately told her husband what had happened when he reached her.
Instead of going to the police to report the matter, they started driving around in search of the alleged perpetrators. After spotting one of them in Koring Street, the husband got out of the vehicle and allegedly started assaulting the man.
The victim of the assault died of his injuries shortly afterwards. He was later identified as Lindo Kamilo, a resident of Malawi who was in his 20s.
The husband, who is 38 years old, later handed himself over to the police. His last court appearance was on Friday, 4 May, when he was granted bail of R1 500.
The case has been postponed to 7 June for further investigation.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Ramie Ramolando at the Fochville detectives branch at 018 771 1120.
